How I feel about mean Jean.
JEAN
The meaning of the name Jean is God Is Gracious (fitting, for my beliefs)
The origin of the name Jean is English
Notes: French male name; English female name Jean Stapleton, actress. Jean Smart, actress. Jean Patou, fragrance mogul.
I am named Emily Jean. The Jean part is in tribute to my grandma’s name Jean Belle. She had a stroke around the time I was born and my parent’s thought that they would loose her and decided to give me her name as a middle name. As it turns out, Grandma Jean lived many more years and she was in my life till I was around 19. (I’m 23, now) Grandma Jean and I loved each other, but we didn’t always see eye-to-eye. I know that my art talent comes from her and her Finnish family. Every time I look at my hands I see hers, just a more youthful pair. However, I also inherited her
anxiety. I wish we could have been closer, but I loved theater and she loved of all things, baseball. My dad looks so much like her, and it especially shows as he ages.As a child, my family called me Emmy Jean and Emmy Lou. I loved making plays on the name Jean. For instance, I would create screen names online like, EmilyJeanius (Emily Genius, get it? Get it? Huh!?!?) I love the flow of Emily Jean, I’d actually rather like to change my first name because I feel that it is not unique enough.
RIP Grandma Jean, thank you for the memories and awesome middle name.

It’s been decided. On October 20th, 2010, we will wear purple in honor of the 6 gay boys who committed suicide in recent weeks/months due to homophobic abuse in their homes at at their schools. Purple represents Spirit on the LGBTQ flag and that’s exactly what we’d like all of you to have with you: spirit. Please know that times will get better and that you will meet people who will love you and respect you for who you are, no matter your sexuality. Please wear purple on October 20th. Tell your friends, family, co-workers, neighbors and schools.
- RIP Tyler Clementi, Seth Walsh (top)
- Justin Aaberg, Raymond Chase (middle)
- Asher Brown and Billy Lucas. (bottom)
